We specialize in the precision repair and service of all grades of modern and vintage automatics, wind-ups and quartz timepieces. This specialization allows us to maintain on hand an extensive stock of vintage and modern spare parts.
In 2005, the AWCI with cooperation of the Swiss Watchmaking industry in the USA created a new series of certifications with high and stringent standards aimed at determining if a watchmaker possesses the skills and knowledge of servicing watches with the highest degree applicable in the watch industry. In order to differentiate between new (post 2005) and old certifications, the number 21 was added to the CW and CMW designations, therefore CW21 and CMW21
In order to successfully complete the CW21 exam, a candidate must be able to show proficiency in accomplishing the following.
- Answer a written test involving watch gear calculations; theory and history that applies to the watchmaking profession.
- Repair and service a modern Swiss made automatic watch with all applicable adjustments.
- Repair and service a modern Swiss made chronograph watch with all applicable adjustments.
- Repair ,service and record all readings on a modern Swiss made quartz watch.
- Use of the watchmaker's lathe by cutting a balance staff out , re-staffing with hairspring and rollor and re-posing without damaging any part.
November 2009 I took the Certification for the CW21 ( Twenty-First Century Certified Watchmaker ). This certification is being required to keep a parts account with Rolex , Omega, and other high grade companies. All watchmakers can get a watch running but not all can practice great quailty of workmanship. This Certification proves the high standards of workmanship you will receive from me
All movements are comprised of many small precision parts all working in a Unisom to each other. The first step in finding out the problem with your timepiece and making sure you movement is serviced and repaired properly is we examine each and all Screws, Endshakes, Wheels, Pivots, Jewels and my favorite the hairspring. Over the years we have profected this step to make sure your timepiece is serviced properly the first time around. All movements are disassembled and serviced and oiled by the manufactured specification.
